Product Safety & CLP Statement

Last updated: October 2025

At Scented Serenade, your safety is our highest priority. We ensure that all our candles, home fragrance products, and body care items meet the legal standards required under UK law, including the Classification, Labelling & Packaging (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and the UK Cosmetic Product Safety Regulations.

1. CLP Compliance for Candles & Home Fragrance

All scented candles, wax melts, room sprays, diffusers, and essential oils supplied by Scented Serenade are compliant with CLP requirements. Each product label includes the relevant warning symbols, signal words, and hazard statements in accordance with the fragrance composition.

Key features of our CLP compliance include:

  • Hazard pictograms and safety information clearly shown on all labels.
  • Ingredient disclosures for potential allergens (e.g., Limonene, Linalool, Citronellol, etc.).
  • Supplier Safety Data Sheets (SDS) maintained for all fragrance oils and raw materials.
  • Labels designed according to container size and hazard category.

Each product’s safety and labelling information is reviewed periodically and whenever a fragrance or formula changes.

2. Cosmetic Product Safety (Bath & Body Items)

All bath and body products (such as soaps, bath bombs, body oils, and balms) sold under the Scented Serenade brand are formulated and labelled in accordance with the UK Cosmetic Product Regulation (Schedule 34 of the Product Safety and Metrology Regulations 2019).

We ensure that:

  • Every cosmetic product undergoes a certified Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR).
  • Ingredients are listed using INCI nomenclature and allergens are identified where required.
  • All cosmetic products are registered with the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) via the Submit Cosmetic Product Notifications (SCPN) portal.
  • Products are labelled with batch numbers, usage guidance, and shelf-life symbols.

3. Essential Oils & Aromatherapy Blends

Our pure essential oils and blended oils are intended for aromatherapy and home fragrance use only — not for ingestion or undiluted application to skin. They are supplied in accordance with CLP and REACH regulations and include full hazard and precautionary statements where applicable.

Safety guidance for essential oils:

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not use undiluted on skin.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, fabrics, and polished surfaces.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

4. Dangerous Goods Handling

Certain fragrance products containing alcohol (such as room sprays and perfumes) are classified as Dangerous Goods (UN1266 – Perfumery Products). We ship these products in accordance with UK transport regulations and only by approved road courier services. We do not send Dangerous Goods by air.

5. Packaging & Environmental Responsibility

All packaging materials are chosen for safety, durability, and sustainability. We minimise plastic use and favour recyclable or biodegradable materials wherever possible. All packaging that comes into contact with products is compliant with UK Packaging and Safety standards.

6. Product Testing & Quality Control

Every new fragrance blend and candle formulation undergoes burn testing, stability testing, and performance evaluation before sale. We continuously monitor batch quality and maintain full traceability from raw material to finished product.

7. Liability & Customer Safety

Scented Serenade accepts no liability for misuse of products outside their intended use or contrary to the safety information provided. Always read and follow the instructions and warning labels on each product before use.
